Note that dark colors may fade over time due to sunlight and wear, which is completely normal for this fabric type, and the garment can be returned to Houdini stores for recycling when worn out.

Softshell

Softshell or single layer shells are garments with a water repellent surface, but without a membrane.

• Air garments instead of washing to save resources, but always wash shell items after saltwater exposure, heavy sweating, or dirt buildup to preserve breathability and waterproofing.
• Use a washing bag to capture loose fibers and dispose of lint dry in the trash rather than rinsing with water.
• Machine wash cold using mild, eco-certified detergents in the correct dose.
• Avoid fabric softener to protect the environment and maintain moisture-wicking and breathability performance.
• Hang dry, then apply gentle heat (via a dryer, drying cabinet, or careful iron) to reactivate the water-repellent surface.
• Reapply or reinforce the water-repellent treatment using an organic DWR spray or wash-in when necessary.
