On Taste: George Ames

George Ames lives in Kreuzberg, where much of his routine unfolds between movement and community. As the captain of the ARYS Outdoor Club, he leads the weekly running sessions every Tuesday, shaping a rhythm that brings people together through the city.

His recommendations reflect that same energy, places rooted in Bergmannkiez where good coffee, food, and music come together naturally.

42 Inspiring Coffee

Yorckstraße 27, 10965 Berlin

A small café with a clear focus. Run by a group of passionate Italian coffee enthusiasts, it delivers strong, well balanced coffee with character. The pastries are equally worth the visit. A croissant with crema is his go to order, simple and done properly.

Chamissopl. 1, 10965 Berlin

A fresh and welcoming spot that stands out for both presentation and flavour. Although not usually his first choice, this Korean restaurant left a strong impression. The menu includes a thoughtful step by step guide on how to eat bibimbap, making the experience both accessible and considered.

Yorkschlösschen

Yorckstraße 15, 10965 Berlin

A jazz bar with a strong local character. Live music runs from Wednesday to Saturday, drawing a mix of regulars and newcomers into the same room. The atmosphere builds quickly once the music starts. One standout performance was Lars Vegas, whose energy carried through the entire space and brought the crowd to its feet. A place where the evening tends to extend naturally.

All located in Bergmannkiez, these addresses reflect a familiar circuit. Places to start the day, share a meal, or end the evening, shaped by routine, proximity, and a sense of community.
